The E-Scan manufactured by Esaote is an innovative development in medical imaging
that allows magnetic resonance imaging of the extremity joints; from shoulder to fingers,
from thigh to toes.
The E-scan is
the market leader with 500 systems having been sold world-wide, mainly within North
America and Europe. The Direct Medical Imaging E-scan is the first within the United
Kingdom.
The great advantage is the open nature of the magnet
as opposed to the closed claustrophobic nature of the traditional magnet systems. This
together with ergonomic table design makes the examination far more pleasant for the
patient. The E-Scan easily accommodates even the largest patients up to 200Kg (440lb).
The unique patient table
can rotate as shown above, to accommodate all patients builds, allowing positioning of the
area of interest in the centre of the magnet, whilst optimising patient comfort. The
combination of ease of patient positioning whilst maintaining patient comfort together
with the absence of any claustrophobic effects, allows excellent quality images to be
obtained without the movement artefacts so often seen with conventional scanners.
