Graduated from Manchester University in 1984. Obtained higher degrees in medicine and in computation/image processing. Successfully completed five years training in radiology with a special interest in magnetic resonance imaging. This was undertaken in Aberdeen, one of the first and principal centres in the UK to offer magnetic resonance imaging training, and Cardiff. Appointed as consultant radiologist at the Victoria Hospital Blackpool NHS Trust (VHB) in November 1996 principally to provide computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging services to the people of the Fylde. Member of MRRA UK (Magnetic Resonance Radiologists Association UK). Lead radiologist for the introduction of PACS (film less soft copy department) at VHB. Lectures on the Lancaster Magnetic Resonance MSc. course.

Interests/Sub specialty:
All forms of cross sectional imaging but with a special interest in cardio-vascular and muscular skeletal imaging.
This includes non-invasive coronary CT and all other forms of cardiac CT and magnetic resonance imaging.
Interventional radiologist predominantly performing peripheral angioplasty and stenting together with endovascular aortic aneurysm repair in conjunction with vascular surgeons.
Background/Experience:
- Qualified from Manchester University in 1981
- Completed a General Practitioner vocational training scheme in 1984
- Completed a 6 year radiology training course in Sheffield in 1991
- Appointed Consultant Radiologist, Blackpool Victoria Hospital in 1991
- Past Chairman of North West Regional Radiologists.
- Secretary to the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging 2006 – 2009
- Appointed President to the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging April 2009.
